In 2023, the European Cancer Organisation (ECO) and OnkoAlliance Slovakia (OAS) together with the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic launched the 'Cancer Screening from policy to Implementation': the national campaign meant to advance early detection campaign.

Despite recent advancements, Slovakian citizens are less likely to have their cancers diagnosed early, when treatment and survival rates will be optimal together with difficulties accessing proper cancer care due to the shortages of oncology personnel. In a country where cancer is the second leading cause of death, improving cancer screening and access to quality cancer care is vital!

The European Cancer Organisation together with member societies and patient associations have released the Time to Accelerate: for Europe Manifesto.

On 14 May, ECO is partnering with OnkoAlliance Slovakia to mark the one-year anniversary of their collaboration in Slovakia to reconvene local partners, policymakers, and patient's group to discuss Slovakia's progress in the field of cancer screening and its most pressing challenges. One year after the launch of the first Country Report on Slovakia, ECO is pleased to present its updated version, with more data and new insights into Slovakia’s healthcare system.

The renewed Country Report will be launched during the joint ECO & OnkoAlliance Slovakia event on Tuesday 14 May at 08:30 CEST in the European Information Centre at the European Commission Representation in Slovakia.
