Adolescents and young adults (AYAs) with cancer face specific clinical and psychosocial needs during and after treatment, including late effects, fertility and reproductive health issues, and impacts on mental health and quality of life.
This online Joint AYA Stakeholder Forum, organised by the EU-funded PanCare4AYA, PredictAYA and STRONG-AYA projects, will bring together healthcare professionals, patient advocates, researchers, project representatives and policymakers to discuss how research can be translated into better care, guidelines and policy across Europe.
The event will include a survivor keynote, project presentations and interactive breakout discussions on survivorship care, personalised follow-up, fertility support, and the use of research data to inform care and policy.

Interactive Session Breakout room A: Implementing evidence-based survivorship care for survivors of AYA cancer across Europe PanCare4AYA will lead a discussion with healthcare professionals to explore strategies for implementing evidence-based survivorship care for survivors of AYA cancer. The session will focus on identifying barriers and facilitators to integrating late-effect surveillance and treatment into routine care, including physical, and psychosocial aspects, leveraging digital health tools. Participants’ insights will contribute to identifying practical, scalable approaches to support the effective adoption of survivorship care across diverse European healthcare settings. Breakout room B: Personalising follow-up and supporting long-term health for AYAs with cancer, with a focus on fertility Kenny Rodriguez-Wallberg, Karolinska Institutet (PredictAYA Coordinator) will facilitate a discussion with survivors, patients, and caregivers to explore approaches for personalising follow-up care and supporting long-term health for AYA cancer survivors. The session will focus on fertility preservation, reproductive health, and other long-term health considerations, highlighting barriers and facilitators to effective care. Participants will share experiences and perspectives to help co-design strategies that ensure AYA patients and survivors receive tailored, empowering, and accessible support. Breakout room C: Using research data to enhance AYA cancer care and inform policy Norbert Couespel, European Cancer Organisation and Simone Hanebaum, Netherlands Cancer Institute (STRONG-AYA Coordinator), will moderate a discussion with healthcare professionals, patient advocates, researchers, and policymakers to explore how research data can be leveraged to improve care for AYAs with cancer and to inform evidence-based policy. The session will focus on identifying priority areas, interpreting data to guide clinical and survivorship practices, and translating findings into actionable recommendations for national and European policy. Participants’ insights will help shape strategies for using research evidence to drive better outcomes and support for AYA patients and survivors across Europe. |
