2021 in Review: The Annual Report of the European Cancer Organisation

22 June 2022

Our Annual Report 2021 is now available. It reflects our determination that cancer remained on the European agenda despite the ongoing pandemic.

In this document, you can review our consensus reports from 2021, get a better insight into the policy work of the ECO, and learn more about our Focused Topic Networks and their key outputs. To achieve our goals for the cancer community, we continue to convene our member societies, patient advocacy groups and invited stakeholders.

Looking back at 2021, Matti Aapro, ECO President 2020-2021, said: "The world is transforming at a rapid pace, affecting everyone and demanding the flexibility of all of us. There are many worthy causes to champion, and ours is around Cancer. With Covid-19 dominating the headlines in 2020 and disrupting vital cancer care, the European Cancer Organisation’s ongoing mission reached a new level of importance in 2021."

Looking forward to 2022, Andreas Charalambous, ECO President 2022-2023, said: "In the spirit of collaboration, I firmly believe that we can make significant gains. This applies in particular to working with oncology professionals both novice and experienced, something that I am passionate about. Involving diverse professionals of different ages and backgrounds in our mission will be increasingly integrated into the culture of this organisation as it will be servicing the present and the future of ECO."
