EU-CIP

Project Duration: 1 May 2025 – 30 April 2026

EU-CIP is a Horizon Europe project that marks a crucial first step in developing the future European Cancer Patient Digital Centre (ECPDC).

EU-CIP addresses the urgent need for reliable, accessible cancer information for patients, survivors, caregivers, and families. Its primary goal is to create a patient-centric information portal that improves health literacy, empowers individuals, and reduces inequalities in access to cancer care knowledge across Europe.

The portal will provide comprehensive, evidence-based content on cancer prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment options, side effects, rehabilitation, recurrence, and palliative care. Special attention will be given to: high-incidence cancers, those with poor prognosis, and pediatric cancers.

EU-CIP will develop a Common Library of Contents, drawing from trusted sources such as the Knowledge Centre on Cancer, the European Cancer Information Service, and national portals. Ten EU Member States will deploy national nodes, supported by a modular architecture that allows for integration with existing digital health systems. An AI-supported governance framework will ensure content is up-to-date, scalable and reflective of patient needs.

By raising awareness of the EU Cancer Mission and Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan, and collaborating closely with other EU-funded projects, EU-CIP will lay the groundwork for a unified, equitable digital cancer information space in Europe.

The European Cancer Organisation leads the outreach and dissemination efforts, ensuring that all stakeholders are engaged and informed, and that the platform is widely adopted and sustained over time.
