Carmen Andrés Añón belongs to the Socialist Parliamentary Group. She has a Law degree from Barcelona University (1989).
 

She is a civil servant of the General Administration of the Catalonia’s Generalitat, where she developed her professional career in the field of Human Resources since 1989. Between 2002 and 2007, she worked at the Catalonian Health Institute, which is the biggest public company of health services in Catalonia, with more than 50,000 workers.

Between 2007 and 2019, she was councillor of the Barcelona City Council, developing her duties as Executive District Councillor, and in many social areas.

Since 2019, she has been a Member of Parliament (elected in the circumscription of Barcelona), where her responsibilities are Deputy Spokesperson of the Socialist Group at the Parliamentary Health Commission in the XIV and XIII legislature.

As Member of Parliament, she has been rapporteur of the Euthanasia Act, and of the Urgent Measures to tackle, prevent and coordinate the COVID-19 health crisis Act.

In her parliamentary activity as member of the Health Parliamentary Commission, one of her agenda priorities has been the fight against cancer, and she has assisted at many conferences and workshops with investigators, health professionals and patients. In those activities, she has always represented the Socialist Parliamentary Group, which promotes and supports early detection and effective treatment initiatives to cope with cancer, and to enhance patient’s’ life quality.
