Colin McGrath

SDLP MLA for South Down, Northern Ireland

Born in Downpatrick, Colin was first elected to Down District Council in 2005. He served as Council Chair in 2008-2009 and was elected to serve South Down as an MLA in 2016 and again in 2017 and 2022.

Colin is the current Health and Wellbeing Spokesperson. He has served on the Health Committee of the Assembly, providing scrutiny of the work of the Health Minister.

Throughout his life as an elected representative Colin has continued to volunteer in supporting our young people in his local youth centre - a role he maintains to this day. He continues to advocate for increased resources for youth services and provision of strong youth mental health care. Working in, with and for the local community is at the heart of all Colin does as an elected representative.
