IT and Operations Assistant

This full-time job, based in Brussels, will allow you to support our different teams: from Policy, EU Projects and Communications to Member Societies and Patient Advisory Committee; All contributing to the relentless fight against cancer.

Our working language is English. Candidates must already have the right to work in the EU and be prepared to be physically based in Brussels. The candidate would report to the Operations and Systems Manager.

European Cancer Organisation (ECO) 

The European Cancer Organisation is a not-for-profit federation of 42 Member Societies fighting cancer across the continent, together with 22 European Patient Advisory Committee members and 10 Focused Topic Networks

We bring together patients, oncology professionals, and public health experts to propose new policies, advocate change and be the united voice of the European cancer community. 

What You'll Do 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

The employee will provide IT and Operations support, for a growing organisation, directly reporting to the Operations and Systems Manager. In that capacity, the employee will be responsible to the Chief Executive for, among other things to:

IT

  • Plan, implement and maintain network and system infrastructure to ensure secure and reliable operations.
  • Install network devices and related software applications as needed
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends to recommend system improvements and upgrades
  • Work with staff to provide technical support and resolve issues
  • Understand and assist on matters related to Microsoft Office suite, Microsoft SharePoint, Azure and End Point Manager and Ubiquiti or other network applications
  • Solve technical issues on the organisation’s websites and manage new and existing entries in the Secure Area of the website
  • Update platforms and play a key role in the evolution of exciting projects that incorporate new technologies, such as the European Cancer Pulse

Organisation of virtual and physical meetings

  • Act as the primary point of contact for the European Cancer Summit registration platform and the registration approval process
  • Work with the Operations and Systems Manager to organise plan and prepare physical and virtual events / meetings and manage the logistical aspects especially related to the European Cancer Summit

Office organisation and project management assistance

  • Manage daily tasks related to office management
  • Maintain and develop relationships with suppliers and follow up on ongoing issues

Finance

  • Work with the Operations and Systems Manager to track specific budget items and process payments
Skills Specification
  • A keen interest in IT, operations and event organisation
  • Strong organisational and communication skills - fluency in English and French, with effective and efficient writing skills in both languages
  • Must be able to work independently, think critically and have excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Be a team player able to follow internal and external workflows with precise deadlines
  • Proactively follow-up on pending tasks
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, Ubiquiti, Adobe Create Cloud and other related design software is a plus
