Ensuring safe, reliable radiological and nuclear technology in healthcare

At this year European Congress of Radiology, the European Society of Radiology has organised a free session on the European Commission’s Strategic Agenda for Medical Ionising Radiation Applications (SAMIRA), which forms part of Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan.

The session EU 4 -SAMIRA: a European Commission initiative to strengthen quality and safety in imaging is available to watch on-demand for free, and provides insight from the European Commission on upcoming funding opportunities related to quality and safety in medical applications using ionising radiation, as well as updates projects, including:

  • EU-REST: study on workforce and staffing issues,
  • MARLIN: radiation incident reporting,
  • SIMPLERAD: guidelines and recommendations for therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals,
  • EURAMED rocc-n-roll: project results and next steps in implementing the proposed strategic research agenda.
