Cancer Cardiovascular Co-morbidities and Complications: The Opportunities for Action

The European Cancer Organisation was pleased to invite you to attend a virtual meeting on Cancer Cardiovascular Co-morbidities and Complications on Thursday 9 December 11:15-13:00 CET.

A unique collaboration of the MEP Heart Group and the Challenge Cancer Intergroup, the event heard from patients, healthcare professionals, Members of the European Parliament and Director-General for Health and Food Safety Sandra Gallina (DG SANTE) on the challenges, and ways forward, connected to the cardiovascular side effects of cancer treatment and the prevalence of cancer and cardiovascular related comorbidities.

Organised in a collaboration between the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), the European Heart Network (EHN), the European Cancer Organisation (ECO) and the European Cancer Patient Coalition (ECPC), expert speakers also included Matti Aapro, President of the European Cancer Organisation, Mark Lawler, Board Member of the European Cancer Organisation, Maria da Graça Carvalho MEP, Juozas Olekas MEP and Brando Benifei MEP.

With the early part of the agenda having outlined the human realities and scale of cardiovascular co-morbidities and complications, the latter part of the event focused on the policy opportunities present within current EU initiatives to achieve improvement in research, treatment and understanding.
