Momchil Baev is an expert with more than 15 years of experience in the field of healthcare and public health. He is an Associate Professor in Nursing at New Bulgarian University and the Department of Healthcare and Social Work.
In 2020, he completed a doctorate degree in "Social Medicine and Organization of Healthcare and Pharmacy" at the Medical University of Sofia. In 2015, he obtained a master's degree in "Public Health and Health Management" at the same university.
In 2020, Momchil Baev founded Astra Forum Foundation, of which he is the chairman to this day. His initiative was born in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the need to communicate science in an effective way and for sustainable development of society. Astra Forum is the organizer of the national conference on vaccine-preventable diseases in Bulgaria.
Since 2023, he has been a consultant in Bulgaria of the European Cancer Organisation on the issues of HPV and virus-related cancers. He works to improve the vaccination coverage against HPV among girls and boys, as well as to modernize the diagnostics of cancers related to the virus.
His main work interests are in the field of sexual health, in which he has been working since 2010, infectious diseases, public health and mental health.
Baev has special interests in the problems of the workforce in the field of healthcare and the quality of life of medical specialists.
Since 2015, he has participated in a number of expert groups of the Ministry of Health and other institutions including as a consultant.
He is the author of a number of scientific articles and textbooks, with his latest monograph on the topic "Quality of Life and Mental Health of Medical Specialists in Bulgaria".
