Contract: Full-time, Contrat à durée indéterminée (CDI)
Working language: English
Application deadline: 11 January 2026
Reports to: EU Projects Lead
Are you dynamic, organised, and motivated by impact?
Are you interested in project management, public health, and EU funding programmes?
Do you want to contribute to a mission that improves the lives of cancer patients, survivors, and their families across Europe?
If so, the European Cancer Organisation (ECO) may be looking for you.
In this full-time Brussels-based role, you will support a portfolio of EU-funded projects contributing directly to Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan and the EU Cancer Mission. You will work closely with experts, clinicians, patients, carers and policymakers to help deliver meaningful change in cancer prevention, care, and quality of life.
About the European Cancer Organisation (ECO)
The European Cancer Organisation is a not-for-profit federation of 40 healthcare professional organisations and 21 patient groups committed to reducing the burden of cancer. We bring together oncology professionals, survivors, patients, carers, and civil society to shape and implement evidence-based policy and advocate for progress across the entire cancer care pathway.
ECO is actively involved in a high number of EU-funded research and policy implementation initiatives linked to Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan and the EU Cancer Mission. These projects encompass areas such as improving quality of life for survivors and patients, strengthening cancer screening and early detection, enhancing the training of oncology professionals, and advancing collaborative cancer care networks.
Across these projects, ECO plays a key role in stakeholder engagement, patient involvement, policy translation of research findings, communication, advocacy, and dissemination to public and political audiences.
Your Responsibilities
As EU Projects Officer, you will contribute to the effective coordination and delivery of EU-funded projects in which ECO participates. You will be responsible for the monitoring of timelines and deliverables, ensure smooth internal workflows, maintain organised project records, and help prepare materials such as agendas, presentations, reports, and briefing notes.
You will be a main point of contact for project partners, ensuring clear communication and the timely exchange of information. You will also play a role in the organisation of meetings and events, working closely with the Operations team to manage scheduling, logistics, and follow-up.
The role also includes supporting ECO’s participation in new project proposals. You will help coordinate internal inputs, liaise with colleagues involved in drafting contributions.
Finally, you will contribute to ECO’s broader engagement with EU-funded initiatives relevant to cancer policy, extending beyond the projects in which ECO is a direct partner.
Who We’re Looking For
We are seeking a motivated and proactive professional who is eager to grow within the EU health policy funding landscape. You should be highly organised, attentive to detail, and comfortable managing multiple parallel tasks. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to present information clearly and maintain constructive relationships with diverse partners.
You should enjoy problem-solving, be willing to take initiative, and be able to keep calm and focused when navigating complexity or dealing with unexpected challenges.1-2 years of prior professional experience in project management is required, with knowledge of EU funding programmes being an advantage. Fluency in written and spoken English is critical, and proficiency in additional European languages is welcome. Proficiency using Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams, is considered required.
While experience with EU projects or the scientific/healthcare sector is beneficial, it is not a prerequisite. We welcome applicants who demonstrate strong organisational ability, motivation to learn, and a commitment to high-quality work.
What the Role Offers
This position provides the opportunity to contribute to impactful European initiatives that improve the lives of cancer patients, survivors, and families. You will gain experience in public health, EU-funded project management, and policy implementation at a time when cancer is at the top of the EU agenda.
You will work closely with high-level experts, policy leaders, and EU institutions, while also gaining insight into the functioning of an active, mission-driven not-for-profit organisation. ECO offers a dynamic collaborative environment where you can develop professionally, take on increasing responsibility, and make a meaningful contribution to Europe’s cancer community.
