My name is Bronagh Scott. I am a retired nurse. During my Nursing Career I held several senior Nursing and Executive Nurse Director positions across various regions of the United Kingdom. I am currently the chair person of an organisation in Northern Ireland called NIPEC The Northern Ireland Practice and Education Council for Nurses and Midwives.

I am also a patient living with Multiple Myeloma. I was diagnosed in January 2023 following a prolonged period of feeling unwell with a series of non specific medical and health care issues. I was seen by 7 different consultant specialists in the 18 months prior to my diagnosis. I was being investigated for a slowly dropping haemoglobin and for a possible auto immune disorder. I am forever grateful to my GP for her persistence and curiosity to get to the bottom of my issues and to my haematologist who quickly diagnosed my condition once I was referred to haematology.

I have been through first line treatment of DVRD followed by an autologous Stem Cell transplant in September 2023. I am currently in remission taking Lenalidomide as maintenance treatment.

I am a member of the patient advocacy panel at Myeloma UK.  I am also a Patient Advocate with Myeloma Patient Experience (MPE) currently undertaking the Patient Advocate development programme. I attended the EHA 2025 Congress in Milan with MPE.

I have established a support group for patients and carers in Belfast Northern Ireland. I am working closely with two charities in Northern Ireland - Leukaemia and Lymphoma NI (LLNI) and Cancer Focus NI – to develop a programme to raise the profile of Myeloma in Northern Ireland, improve early diagnosis and treatment and increase the accessibility to clinical trials for people in Northern Ireland who are living with Myeloma.

I am also working with Queens University Belfast (QUB) and LLNI to apply for funding for a PhD studentship to explore the lived experience of people with Myeloma in Northern Ireland.
