
Professor Anna Kirby is an internationally renowned clinical oncologist and driver of pragmatic practice-changing research in the treatment of breast cancer. She leads research into novel breast radiotherapy techniques at The Royal Marsden and Institute of Cancer Research, London, UK. She is Chief Investigator of the FAST-Forward Boost Trial, Technical Radiotherapy Lead for the PARABLE Proton Trial, and was Chief Investigator on the HeartSpare trials which helped implement heart-sparing breast radiotherapy in the UK.
Professor Kirby was President of the European Society of Radiation Oncology (ESTRO) and Chair of the ESTRO Board from 2022-24. She led reviews of governance and strategy underpinning >20% growth in ESTRO’s membership and congresses. She is a passionate advocate of local therapies for cancer cure (chairing ESTRO’s Advocacy Taskforce), patient and public involvement in research, women in leadership and value-based healthcare.
