High-calibre Communications Executive with over 25 years of multinational experience in public and private sectors, Alina Comanescu is a dedicated patient advocate and expert with extensive experience in the healthcare sector, particularly focused on cancer care. As a Board Member of Digestive Cancers Europe and consultant for the European Cancer Organisation, Alina has been instrumental in advancing patient-centered policies and improving the quality of care for cancer patients across Europe. Her expertise lies in patient advocacy, ensuring that the voices of patients are represented in the decision-making processes that shape healthcare systems. Alina is committed to making a meaningful impact on the lives of those affected by cancer by promoting awareness, policy change, and support for patients and their families.
She created a cancer patient advocacy strategy amid the complex political, cultural and regulatory landscape of Romania. The association is providing cancer patients and caregivers with the support and education they need so they can make their own decisions about their next steps, thus creating high-quality customized solutions that make a measurable difference.
She created and implemented various cancer awareness, informational and educational campaigns in Romania, such as Make Sense (Community Health Association is the official Make Sense partner for Romania. Alina also launched the first Head & Neck survivors guide in Romania) and the pilot of a colorectal screening cancer campaign in Romania. The organization is the co-founder of the Coalition for European Health, a civil society initiative that advocates for a more transparent and efficient health budget. During the SARS CoV 2 pandemics the Association actively provided support, navigation and guidance for the cancer patients in Romania. During the last years she raised awareness on HPV related cancers and the role of HPV vaccination through local and EU advocacy initiatives
Currently, she is board member of Digestive Cancers Europe, member of EORTC Independent Data Monitoring Committee and European Cancer Organisation HPV Action Romania Consultant.
