Dr Antonis Billis is an Electrical and Computer Engineer and holds a PhD in the field of digital biomarkers for the remote monitoring of chronically ill patients and older adults. He currently holds the position of Postdoctoral Researcher at the Laboratory of Medical Physics and Digital Innovation, in the School of Medicine at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. His main research interests include: e-health/m-health, digital biomarkers, clinical decision support systems, computational cancer research, intelligent remote patient monitoring systems, smart hospitals, and assistive technologies for vulnerable populations. He has published a significant number of scientific articles (>90) in peer-reviewed international journals and at international conferences. For his scientific work, he has received two fellowships from the 'Lieutenant Fanourakis' Foundation and the 'Support for Young Researchers' program of the Greek Ministry of Development and Investment. Furthermore, he has 19 years of research experience, having participated in several nationally and European-funded IT projects in the health sector, with a primary focus on supporting the quality of life of older adults. He has served as the scientific coordinator of the LifeChamps project, funded through the European Horizon 2020 research framework, aimed at supporting the quality of life of older cancer patients through artificial intelligence and big data technologies. At the same time, he has received over 2 million euros in funding from European programs, serving as the principal investigator for three digital health projects focused on heart failure care and AI-supported cancer care. Finally, he is an associate editor of the scientific journal 'Healthcare Technologies Letters Journal” and a member of the editorial board of the scientific journal “SAGE Health Informatics Journal.'
