Prof. Dr. Stargardt is Professor for Health Care Management at the Hamburg Center for Health Economics at the University Hamburg. Between 2005 and 2007, he was a research fellow and a lecturer for health care management at the Department of Health Care Management at the Berlin University of Technology. Thereafter he received a PhD fellowship, which included a one-year stay at the Global Outcomes Research, Reimbursement and Health Technology Assessment Department at Merck, Sharp and Dohme in Whitehouse Station, NJ, USA. After he received his PhD from the Berlin University of Technology in 2008, he worked for 2 years at the Helmholtz Zentrum Munich and as a lecturer at Munich University (LMU). Before getting tenure, he was assistant professor at Hamburg University for 1.5 years. His research interests include health economic evaluation, health services research and the pharmaceutical market, especially the impact of pharmaceutical price regulation. As part of SOLACE, he has worked on the cost-effectiveness of lung cancer screening.
