Thiemo van Nijnatten finished his PhD in 2017 on the topic of lymph node staging in breast cancer at Maastricht University (Maastricht, the Netherlands). Currently, he is working in Maastricht University Medical Center+ (Maastricht, the Netherlands) as a breast and nuclear radiologist. As of 2025, he also works as radiologist for the Dutch reference center for screening (LRCB). In 2017, he did a research fellowship on the topic op CEM in Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (New York, USA). In 2022, he did a ESOR scholarship in Cambridge (UK) on the topics of breast imaging and nuclear medicine.
Besides, he is appointed as assistant professor at Maastricht University. He has more than 80 peer-reviewed publications on the topic of breast imaging and nuclear medicine in breast cancer patients. He is lead section editor of the breast section of the European Journal of Radiology. Next, he is the current chair of the EUSOBI Young Club committee and executive board member of the European Society of Breast Imaging (EUSOBI).
