Dr Mohamad Saab is a Lecturer at the University College Cork (UCC) School of Nursing and Midwifery. He completed his PhD in Nursing at UCC in 2017. The title of his thesis is: “Enhancing Men’s Awareness of Testicular Disorders Using a Virtual Reality (VR) Intervention: The E-MAT Study”

Dr Saab’s collaborative and interdisiciplinary research is focused on the use of innovative technologies, such as VR in men’s health promotion and in nursing education. He produced 60 research outputs since 2014.

Dr Saab has led successful grant applications as Principal Investigator and have been Co-Applicant and Collaborator on 24 nationally and internationally funded research projects worth a total of €1.65 million. An example of a project that Dr Saab is currently leading is a Health Research Board (Definitive Interventions and Feasibility Awards) funded feasibility trial (30 months, starting July 2021, €391,821) aimed to test the effect of E-MAT on testicular awareness, testicular self-examination, and help-seeking behaviours among Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) players and coaches.
