DESCRIPTION: Cancer is a complex experience, affecting not only the body but also the mind. Empathetic care reduces the uncertainty and stress felt by many patients, prompting them to be more receptive to treatment, accelerating progress, and achieving better outcomes.  \n \nIn a field where compassion can be lifesaving, healthcare professionals often walk a fine line between caring for others and safeguarding their own well-being.  \n \nThe International Psycho-Oncology Society (IPOS) and the European Cancer Organisation brought a special Young Cancer Professionals Roundtable on ‘Empathy in cancer treatment and compassion fatigue.’  \n \nParticipants shared insights from their professional experience and shared strategies to navigate the challenges of empathetic care. \n \nThe online event took place on Wednesday 25 June, 16:00–17:30 CEST.
